About his life
Verner Panton, born in Gamtofte (1926), Denmark, studied atOdense Technical Collegebefore enrolling at theRoyal Danish Academy of Fine Artsin Copenhagen as an architecture student. He worked from 1950-1952 in the architectural firm ofArne Jacobsenand founded an independent studio for architecture and design in 1955. Verner Panton died in 1998 in Copenhagen.
What are the main features of Panton’s style?
Considered one of Denmark’s most influential 20th-centuryfurnitureandinterior designers, during his career, Panton createdinnovativeandfuturisticworks. His style was very “1960s” but regained popularity at the end of the 20th century; as of 2004, Panton’s most well-known furniture models are still in production (atVitra, among others).
